Code Enforcement is responsible for the enforcement of city, state, and federal codes, laws and ordinances. We provide services to improve the overall quality of life to the citizens of Tulare through public awareness, education, and enforcement actions. The goal of the Code Enforcement Division is to gain compliance of violators in order to protect the citizens of Tulare from blight. Violations are accessed and addressed to ensure compliance. Repeat or severe violators are subject to fines, penalties and even arrest.

Nuisance Abatement

Code Enforcement is responsible for the abatement of all nuisances within the City of Tulare. These nuisances include, but are not limited to:

  • Vehicle Abatement which includes any and all vehicles parked on private property in an inoperative or dismantled condition. These vehicles are required to be stored in an enclosed structure (garage).
  • General Nuisances which include any activity or condition which affects the overall condition of a neighborhood, reduces the property value, or negatively affects the health, safety and general welfare of the citizens of Tulare.
  • Weed Abatement which includes weeds and problem vegetation. Dried vegetation present a fire hazard while overgrown green vegetation harbor vermin and other pests. Properties with tall weeds or problem vegetation in the front or rear yards are subject to abatement.
