General

The City of Tulare recognizes the importance of ensuring our websites are accessible to those with disabilities.  We are committed to making our information accessible to visitors with disabilities and are actively working to increase the accessibility and usability of our website and in doing so adhere to many of the available standards and guidelines.

This website endeavors to conform to Level “AA” of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0.These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible and the City is working to educate our staff so that the content they may post on their department websites will be compliant with the guidelines and be accessible to all visitors.   This site has been built using code compliant with W3C standards for HTML and CSS. The site displays correctly in current browsers and using standards compliant HTML/CSS code means any future browsers will also display it correctly.

While we strive to make our website accessible and compliant with applicable standards, web accessibility is only one component of a broader, citywide ADA program. The City of Tulare ADA program encompasses a wide range of efforts, including physical accessibility, program access, effective communication, and reasonable accommodations to ensure that individuals with disabilities are not excluded from participation in or denied the benefits of City services.

Areas for improvement

The City of Tulare continues its efforts to constantly improve the accessibility of this site and services.  Despite our efforts to make all pages and content on www.tulare.ca.gov fully accessible, some content may not have yet been fully adapted to the strictest accessibility standards. This may be a result of not having found or identified the most appropriate technological solution.  We strive for this website to achieve “Level AA” conformance to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0.  In the meantime, should you experience any difficulty in accessing the City of Tulare website, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
