Why is story time important?   

Early Literacy Skills

• Vocabulary: Knowing the names of things and the meaning of words.
• Print Awareness: Print is all around--not just in books.
• Narrative Skills: Make predictions, describe things, or retell events in sequence.
• Phonological Awareness: Play with and explore the sound that make up words.
• Print Motivation: Show that reading is fun so children will want to learn to read.
• Letter Knowledge: Knowing the names and sounds of different letters

Story time at Home

The Tulare Public Library offers grab bags ready for pickup during open hours.  Just stop by and pick up a bag filled with books you and your child can enjoy together.  Have something particular in mind?  You can place holds on books, movies, or music through our online catalog.

Join a Book Club

The library hosts 2 in-person books clubs each month.
