New Concussion Protocols went into effect January 1, 2017 which applies to athletes participating in youth sports organizations. in which persons 17 years of age and younger participate in baseball, basketball, bicycle motocross (BMX), boxing, competitive cheerleading, diving, equestrian activities, field hockey, football, full contact martial arts, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, parkour, rodeo, roller derby, rugby, skateboarding, skiing, soccer, softball, surfing, swimming, synchronized swimming, volleyball, water polo, or wrestling.
Parents, please read the Concussion fact sheet thoroughly. You will be asked to sign the consent form for most youth sports activities upon registration.
Youth Volleyball
The Parks and Recreation Department is accepting registrations for youth volleyball for
boys and girls in grades 3rd through 8th. Practices begin September 17 and will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at the Tulare Youth Center and games will be held on
Sunday afternoons beginning September 29, 2019. Program fee is $80 per child and $70 for additional siblings. Fee includes a team jersey and team photo. REGISTRATIONS BEGIN JULY 1, 2019

Intro to Tumbling
Introduce your child to tumbling with Tulare Parks and Recreation! Participants will learn basic tumbling techniques and exercises to build skills, strength, and flexibility. Our goal is to introduce tumbling necessities such as splits, cartwheels, bridges, and bridge walkovers in a fun and safe environment. Classes are for beginners.

Presports
It's never too early to start your children towards a healthy and activity lifestyle, so step up and enroll them in Presports. It introduces your preschooler to the fundamentals of tee-ball, soccer and basketball. In a non-competitive environment, they will develop motor coordination using soft equipment for kicking, throwing, catching and batting. This program instructs children from
ages 2-4.

PreSports PLUS
PreSports PLUS is taking our fun and interactive PreSports approach to the next level! Allowing our staff to spend more time with each child and giving them a more specialized approach to the sport. Each session is designed to focus on one sport and all the fundamentals that go along with it emphasizing the hand-eye coordination, motor skills, and agility that go along with each sport. PreSports PLUS is not competitive and is focused on introducing the sport and all the fun that goes along with it.

Little Dunkers Basketball
Boys and girls, ages 4-7, are encouraged to participate in the non-competitive, co-ed league where team coaches introduce games and skills which reinforce the learning of dribbling, passing, shooting and rebounding. Scrimmage games help acquaint the children with placement of offensive and defensive players and position responsibilities. Class size is limited, so you are encouraged to register early.

Little Sluggers Tee-Ball
Want to boost your child's self esteem? Tee-ball is a non-competitive league for 4-7 year olds. Children are introduced to fundamental baseball skills where general rules of baseball and field positioning are introduced during weekly games. A soft baseball is used and children hit off a batting tee. Equipment is provided, however, players must provide their own glove. Class size is limited, so you are encouraged to register early.

Little Dancers: Intro to Dance ~ Ballet
Dance classes are ideal for children because kids love to move, and dancing promotes physical activity, musicality, and creative expression. Engaging a child in dancing activities also increases attention span, gross motor coordination and development.
This non-performance group oriented class will keep children engaged and attentive by combining dance activities with creative movement using fun and appropriate music, themes, props and games.
Students are encouraged to wear dance attire including ballet shoes, tights and leotard with hair preferably in a bun or ponytail.

Youth Instructional Tennis
Tennis anyone? Our coaches will teach basic skills, rules of the game, and court etiquette through drills and games. All students must wear tennis shoes and provide their own racket. Rackets are provided for those students enrolled in the Pee Wee class and tennis balls are provided for all classes.

Super Sitter and Kids First Aid & CPR
Help your child make a difference by enrolling him or her in our comprehensive babysitting class. It is designed to instruct young boys and girls in basic but vital skills of child care. Class includes accident prevention, emergency actions, basic care of children, and fundamental babysitting responsibilities. It is suggested to also take the CPR for Kids class. There is a discount for taking both classes.
